WTK Partner Lonny Zilberman Discusses the Issue of Third-Party Retaliation in Los Angeles Daily Journal

The January 31, 2011 edition of the Los Angeles Daily Journal featured an article titled "Retaliation by Association." Writted by WTK partner Lonny Zilberman, the article discusses third-party retaliation. The article came out one week after the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in Thompson v. North American Stainless LP. The case revolves around Eric Thompson, who was fired from a North American Stainless plant after his fiancé, who also worked at the same building, filed a sexual discrimination complaint against the company. Thompson filed suit, claiming third-party retaliation. While the federal court initially threw out his case, Thompson appealed, and the 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals allowed the suit to proceed. The lawsuit worked its way to the justices of the Supreme Court, who ruled unanimously that Thomson's case could go to trial.
